Interchangability question

First post...

I've been lurking for a while, decided to join the forum to make searching easier & ask questions when I can't find an answer. Lots of good info here, but I am having trouble finding out if this will work.

I have a 2V 4.6 from a '96 T-Bird, with a bad rod knock(still runs). I also have a '99 Lincoln Continental with its 32V InTech (bad transmission), that is low mileage and runs great. Now I already learned here that the InTech block will not work in a RWD application (my '57 F100). Which brings me to my question...

Is there any reason that I cannot swap the internals (rotating assembly) and cylinder heads into the iron 2V block? I would look to Sullivan for a carb intake, Comp Cams for new bump sticks, and MSD for the ignition system duties.

Thanks in advance!

The Continental 32V 4.6 block has a smaller bellhousing pattern than the Mustang & trucks use. IIRC, it is a Taurus transmission that goes in the Conti. I also read that one of the engine mount bosses is not drilled & tapped for bolting on the engine mount. That would be a simple thing to overcome, but not the bellhousing issue.

I'm betting that the internals will swap into an iron 2V block just fine. I was hoping for some feedback from somebody who might have done this already.
