2008+ Bumper on 05 Excursion Fitment Issue...

Hello guys, i bought a "2008" rear bumper for my Excursion to replace my rusted bumper but ran into a fitment issue.
It won't line up with the bolt holes to mount it correctly.
Maybe the bumper is alot newer then 08 which is causing the problem?
Here are a couple pictures of the two bumpers, it is a factory takeoff.
Can someone confirm that it is in fact the correct bumper for doing the swap?
Thank you.

Brackets are on the truck, i'm reusing the old brackets as the new longer brackets have the wrong bolt pattern on one side.

Mount the brackets to the bumper.

On the drivers side you will have to grind approximately 1/8" off the end of the frame. You may also have to cut a portion of the black plastic molding between the bumper and body.

It looks like you may have an aftermarket bumper, more pictures.

Aftermarket on top OEM on bottom. OEM will weigh about the same as the original, aftermarket is probably 15-20 Lbs lighter.

Edit: Looking at pictures of your bumper it is definitely aftermarket and it will fit.

So the original Ford 2007 and under bumper weigh the same as an original Ford 2008+ bumper?
My new bumper is at least 20lbs lighter then the one the 05 original bumper but i thought that was Fords doing in saving weight.......
In my previous searches before i bought the bumper everyone was saying it's a direct swap, nothing about cutting the frame and step pad.........
Thanks for your help!

I am not everyone.

It is what I had to do on mine. Are you 1/2" from aligning the mounting holes on both sides? Or just one side?

I didn't measure how much material I removed but I don't believe it was 1/2".

Not the step pad, the black plastic molding that mounts on the fender where the bumper meets.

The Excursion brackets should bolt right up to it. What do you mean the bolt pattern is different?

I didnt have to do anything to my frame or anything else. The bumper bolted right on.

My new bumper came with new brackets which are longer then the original brackets and the bolt pattern is spaced further apart where it mounts on the frame.

NH, you got lucky, mine did need some alterations. I tried with help from my son for about 90 minutes then I realized where the impediment was located.

Your new '08+ is aftermarket.

Piece on the left may need a trim not the the step pad.

When i bought it i was told it's a new factory takeoff, guess i got ripped off.
Maybe i'll look around for an original replacement or sand blast my rusted one to see if it can be saved.
Thanks,
Mike.

Upside, it already has the parking sensor mounts ready to go.

It isn't necessarily an aftermarket bumper just because the inner structure is different. I just bought 4 new take off bumpers and they look the same as in the pics here with white and yellow stickers. I believe it's the 11+ inners are different than the 08-10. I went to the local Ford lot and compared mine to one of the new trucks and they have the same markings. Also, the bumpers have ford part numbers and ford stamped on them. I will see if I have any pics I can post. I just put one on my 05 ex and had to trim the pass top corner of the bumper to get the holes to line up and bend down the wiring bracket for the trailer wiring for pass side to fit.

Update: I put my reading glasses on and got my flashlight out and was able to confirm that it appears to be an original Ford bumper as i have a Ford stamp and part numbers on it.
So i would say it's an original Ford bumper and not aftermarket.
Raining here all day today and supposed to rain tomorrow too, i'll give it another go as soon as i can, it's pretty tough to lay on your back and balance it while trying to align the bolts, maybe i'll buy some individual bolts rather then reuse the original strap/bolt set up Ford uses where both bolts have to align perfectly to hang each side....

Mine bolted right on the only thing I had to modify was the piece for the trailer brake cable was blocking my trailer plug connector.
