2008+ Bumper on 05 Excursion Fitment Issue...
Hello guys, i bought a "2008" rear bumper for my Excursion to replace my rusted bumper but ran into a fitment issue.
It won't line up with the bolt holes to mount it correctly.
Maybe the bumper is alot newer then 08 which is causing the problem?
Here are a couple pictures of the two bumpers, it is a factory takeoff.
Can someone confirm that it is in fact the correct bumper for doing the swap?
Thank you.

Mount the brackets to the bumper.
On the drivers side you will have to grind approximately 1/8" off the end of the frame. You may also have to cut a portion of the black plastic molding between the bumper and body.
It looks like you may have an aftermarket bumper, more pictures.
Aftermarket on top OEM on bottom. OEM will weigh about the same as the original, aftermarket is probably 15-20 Lbs lighter.
Edit: Looking at pictures of your bumper it is definitely aftermarket and it will fit.

So the original Ford 2007 and under bumper weigh the same as an original Ford 2008+ bumper?
My new bumper is at least 20lbs lighter then the one the 05 original bumper but i thought that was Fords doing in saving weight.......
In my previous searches before i bought the bumper everyone was saying it's a direct swap, nothing about cutting the frame and step pad.........
Thanks for your help!

It is what I had to do on mine. Are you 1/2" from aligning the mounting holes on both sides? Or just one side?
I didn't measure how much material I removed but I don't believe it was 1/2".
Not the step pad, the black plastic molding that mounts on the fender where the bumper meets.

My new bumper came with new brackets which are longer then the original brackets and the bolt pattern is spaced further apart where it mounts on the frame.

Update: I put my reading glasses on and got my flashlight out and was able to confirm that it appears to be an original Ford bumper as i have a Ford stamp and part numbers on it.
So i would say it's an original Ford bumper and not aftermarket.
Raining here all day today and supposed to rain tomorrow too, i'll give it another go as soon as i can, it's pretty tough to lay on your back and balance it while trying to align the bolts, maybe i'll buy some individual bolts rather then reuse the original strap/bolt set up Ford uses where both bolts have to align perfectly to hang each side....
