I don't know his were heavy duty since he had a dually and would pick up big crap on job sites. He also had a stake bed which made it easier to hook up.
So unless they are plastic They will move.

But it was better than fixing flaps every weekish.
Or in this case body damage.
I need to do the same thing myself, ripped one off a while back and haven't put it back on.
A friend of mine did nearly the same thing to his dually a few years ago after he kept getting his flaps caught in his pasture. He ran a cable from the center of the rear flaps, up along the frame and drilled a hole in front of the driver's seat. He then put the cable to a stainless ring, figured out how far to pull the flaps up, and screwed a hook on the other side of the tranny hump. When he wanted to back up, he'd grab the ring and pull it over to the hook and hook it. the flaps would then be up and out of the way. Pretty dang neat idea!

I was going to take a picture of the underside of my truck but forgot to last night.

I think they sit too low and you can see where I have plowed mud with the front axle and the transfer case.

So I think they need a little more height and the mudflap remedy.

I just realized that you guys may not be able to see the picture because I didn't make it "Public" on Picassa. Anyway, that is fixed. Now I just need my truck back! I called the repair place and he told me it took them longer to repair the hip. I thought it was going to be removed and replaced! I hope they did a good job and it holds up. Sure seems like it would have been a whole lot less labor to just remove and replace. They are supposed to paint it today and I should have my baby home tomorrow.

golfmedik, I like the cable idea. Of course, this wouldn't have helped me in this case since I didn't realize I was backing into a dangerous area.
