I have 55 with a Mustang 2 front. I'm planing on converting to coil overs front and back with a RideTech triangular 4 bar kit. Now my question, I have asked several venders about sway bars. Some say front only and some say rear only. When I searched most of you have said both. Looking for options as to which way to go. Thanks!
IFS: swaybar mandatory. Triangulated 4 link rear: optional, depends on front bar stiffness, shock valving, lowering, type driving. No single right answer.
Try it without first. I wrote a detailed post on how shocks and sways function and work together that might help you decide. try a search on swaybar and my user name. Are the coilovers adjustable (valving)?
What I was looking at were Viking double adjustable coil overs. I am not sure what length of shocks as I will be using the truck for street use only. For the front sway bar I would like to use will be a minimum of 1"or leaning toward 1 1/8" on the front. Thanks
I'm in a 53 and also spoke with AX in PM's about my plans. He recommended the same for me, try the rear without, go from there. I felt the rear sway was necessary after about 3 minutes of spirited driving.
Set up is as follows:
Front - 71 Firebird front clip, HD springs (everything else sagged under the BB motor), monroe shocks, Helwig 1-5/16" front sway.
Rear - Welders series triangulated 4 bar, welders series sway kit (passed thru frame) QA1 fully adjustable coil overs - 275# springs.
