My inquiry into the reverse sensor is now with a Ford service rep, the name is Kwasi and I am still waiting to hear back. I will send him a nudge on Monday if I don't hear anything back. Will keep you all posted on what I can find out.
I checked mine today, the radio does lower the sound if the alarm is beebing. Good thing too as the beebing isn't very loud and it's only coming from the back speakers. Now this is while I'm backing slowly towards my closed garage door. What it will do if I'm about ready to run over someone I don't know.. But I sure would like something a lot louder.
Just received a call from the Ford CSM, after he talked with the ford engineers, there is nothing they can do to turn up the volume. The sound does not come from the rear speakers but from a module behind the rear seats. There is no way to turn the sound up as the module is not programmable.
I mentioned that it turns the volume down a little and therefore must have a interface of some sort but the CSM empatically stated that the module does not do that. At this point I realized that he was not too engaged in assisting so I thanked him and hung up. I believe that the low volume is something I will have to live with. Thankfully I come from a era where you always watched and checked before backing up. The additional sound was nice to have but in no way affected the use of the vehicle.
I believe that the Ford CSM's role on this site is to collect data first and then push the case up the chain. I may be wrong but this is the feeling I have.
Ok, thanks. Yes, I remember you saying it turns the volume down, but wondered what the CSM had to say. Obviously he wasn't into helping much, but at least we know, or think we know, that there's a module that provides the sound.
As for the role of the CSM, whether on this site or anywhere, I would think it would be to impress the customer or potential customer with Ford's service. But that doesn't seem to be the case. More "depress" than "impress".

I have noticed that when you have younger engineers designing things and they still have perfect hearing and eyesight that old farts like me can't hear or see what they designed. Like the voice command GPS works fine till she tells me to pick a line number that matches where I want to go.. I can't read the dumb little print, then she gets mad and starts telling me to call some number for help!
PS Well my truck is back at the dealers,, turned 100 miles on the way there. Really starting to miss my 2002!
There's gonna be a lot of "young engineers" realize later that they weren't as smart as they thought they were since they assume all of us can see as well as they can.
Yes, I'm anxious to see what they say about your truck.

I just checked out my neighbor's 2015. Now, one could say the rear park aid on previous years was borderline obscene. At least on my 2012 it is. I just got in and backed up my neighbor's new truck and I could barely hear the beeps. Granted, I am deaf in one ear and pushing closer to my mid 40's but I would still consider my one good ear as, well, good. The bigger problem is my neighbor is almost 80 years young. He is in good shape for being close to 8 decades old but his hearing has been failing him for some time.
Yep. My passengers don't understand when I ask them to be quiet when I'm negotiating tight places. But, I need to be able to hear the beeps and their talking obscures them.
