A little avast help -- please
Hi,
I have a new compute and I want to move one of my Avast licenses. I have an old XP that will either get the free version -- or maybe Linux
Anyway, they apparently have NO tech support. Never thought about that when I checked them out -- they have a forum! (which I used) - but who knows how well that works.
My new compute has McAfee -- which has a much better interface, but everything I read says that it's junk. Don't really like Avast, but I'll probably stick with it.

Why not just download the free version on to the new computer, then register it (all it takes is an email address) - boom, instant license. I've been using Avast for a little while and it's been pretty good to me, so far.

There is nothing wrong with Mcafee antivirus.. If it's a year subscription I would just leave it..
If you still want to move your avast license you should be able to..
I would uninstall it first from the old machine..
Also remove mcaffee first on the new machine

An avast forum dude told me how to transfer (uninstall/remove machine from website/install on new machine)
Will probably do that, the McAfee is a 30 day trial.
Avast is supposed to be a market leader, but I will probably reevaluate in a year. There are just some things that really irk me
- no tech support (forum!)
-as far as I can tell, you can't set it to shut down after a scan
-I have some real suspicions about some of the files that it marked as infected and quarantined
- the amoeba icon
