Still looking around. Opinions on what these should be purchased for?

This seems a bit high for not running 6 flathead.
1951 Ford F1 Truck

This one has come down a bit. Could be interesting since it already has the Ford Engine.

If you can't inspect it personally, I would caution you on buying sight unseen.
I recently bought a 1950 F1 "shop truck" from a guy in Missouri. He gave me an 'accurate' description over the phone and sent a dozen pictures. Said it ran well, steered straight, and only had a small spot of rust in the pickup bed.
The truck arrived on a trailer in undriveable condition. Front end was worn out to the point that it was dangerous to try to go 20 MPH. Clutch was shot, brakes were shot, wiring was fried....OK I can fix all that.
The body was a rust bucket from front to back. Needed new fenders, a new bed, and lots of work to the cab. The seller was a thief and a liar - plain and simple. And stupid me for believing his line of BS.

So don't make the costly mistake I did. Look at the truck, or have someone you trust look at it.

Gotta agree with the advice given by Mr. Precision. If you can't see it, up front and personal, you will very probably be disappointed. I found it is a lot less costly to spend a hundred or two taking a drive than it is to spend 4 or 5 hundred to have a rust bucket shipped to you.

Great advice. Pictures sure make things look better than they really are.

The truck in the picture is not the one you bought is it?

Yes it is.
I have since sold it and shipped it to Australia. Got some of my money back, but certainly not all of it. I did repair the front end, clutch, brakes and got it to drive pretty well. The bodywork was more than I was prepared to tackle.

They've got old fashioned "panel beaters" down under and these guys can do just about anything. It's an art form not much in place here in the USA.

I wouldn't touch the first or third trucks - too many issues. The 51 hasn't been molested and is worth a look. Price seems about $3k high - but I'm a cheap so-and-so.

There are far too many trucks in good condition to spend that kind of money for any of these shown. Body work can easily exceed $10,000. Then there is interior and in one case driveline work.
By the time you have a decent ride, you'll have $25 grand in the truck. Unless you are very, very good at all facets of reconstruction. Even then, figure a minimum of $8,000 just for parts.
Look for a nice, completed truck. Spend a little more up front and save a lot in the end. Not to mention you can use the truck while you finish whatever you choose to do.

Wow, would have thought that truck was in that bad of shape.

I agree. That is sort of what I am looking for. Something I can drive when I want and work on it as I get time. Obviously not looking for a daily driver. Just some to play around with and a retirement gift to myself.
