I have a '98 EB and noticed the back sagging. It was like this when I bought it, and I still have the extended warranty on it. I know it's hard to tell from this picture, but would you say the air shocks are not working properly on this??
Thanks,
If you think I should take it in to the dealer to fix please email me, my deductible is only $50! schaibaa@email.uc.edu
I took my Expedition to the dealer, and they claim it took them all day to determine: There was a short in the rear leveling sensor. It is covered by the extended warranty - however I must pay the $100 deductible. It does not look like a very expensive part - I am going to call the parts department and ask how much it costs.
This diagnosis fits well with the symptoms: it only malfunctions on occasions, other times it works fine - so it can't be a leak. And the front air suspension was working fine.
I will post back to this thread to let everyone know how the repair works.
Mine is at the dealer today, I'll update after they fix it.
I think my sensor is broken too - the whole car will raise if you put it in 4 wheel low, but the rear, in specific the left rear is much lower than the rest of the car. I'm actually hoping it is something big so my warranty might actually pay for itself.
So far (after 1.5 days) replacing the rear leveling sensor has worked fine. The Expedition rides liek it used to - and that noisy compressor hum is always there (again) when I first start the truck.
How are adjustments made to the rear leveling sensor and where is it located? Compressor works every time, just seem to have a saggy rearend whether or not there is any kind of load on board. Thanks
