Door question

I have several 40-47 doors. I see some have the metal window frame and some do not. Any rhyme or reason to this?

Metal framed window glass was '42-'47 feature. Was one of the selling points Ford used on the '42's to make them "truck built".

I think the big trucks got the metal window frame and the 1/2 tons had regular glass. I think it was expected the big trucks would have a rougher ride and need the extra strength around the glass.

I've parted out a few 1/2 tons that had the frames. Next time I get to where my 40 panel is stored, I'm going to check and see which it has.

The ton rating of the truck had nothing to do with the door glass. In the brochures for the 42 Ford states that the glass metal framed for the 42 to be more truck tough. The window felts are different between the '40-41 and the '42. The actual door shell is interchangeable, the felts are not.
