maybe starter
my starter has started to give e problems the last couple months, or longer, been getting worse. its in the 90.s here and when i go some where and then get back into my truck within a couple minutes it will hardly crank. i got home and load tested it, seemed great. how do i find out if its my starter for sure, the starter is many years old and the battery is only a year old.

its probably your starter. that's a tell-tale sign (no start when hot) that its failing.
it could be, however, your cables. ohm your old and crusty battery cables, disconnected from starter/solenoid/battery, and check for high resistance.

Make sure there isn't any corrosion between the steel block plate and the aluminum bellhousing that would cause an intermittent 'no start'… chased that deal for too long on my old '89 F150. Three starters, new cables, new solenoid… cleaned the corrosion on the bellhousing and all was fine.

well the rebuilt starter did it. had to leave my truck running while i went inside to get it. they did find when i bought it, 2005, and it only had a 1 year guarantee. nit bad for a rebuilt.
