2008 5.4L XLT Steering Problems & Noises
Hi all,
I'm posting here today due to a few problems I'm experiencing with my F-150 that have happened in the last few days. As the title states, I currently drive a 2008 XLT 5.4L. I had gone on some muddy trails yesterday with a few friends. Nothing crazy, and anything too deep I would drive around. It was only a trail, so the truck was not on some crazy incline or decline. After the trail, I had got back on the highway and the moment I reached 70mph, my steering wheel starts to shake back and forth. Now I read about "death wobble" and I wanted to know if my situation was different? Is there mud somewhere under the truck that I was unable to get too causing this problem? It looks a lot like
but not as bad.
Then this morning while driving to class, the engine started to make a weird noise when I turned. I originally thought it was the tires hitting mud I didn't wash off, but its the actual engine because the sound matches exactly when I rev the engine, regardless of speed. The best way I could describe the sound is like a moan with a hum to it. I tried looking this up and all I could come up with was steering fluid. Although that would mean that the sound would stop after the turn right? For me, the sound continues through the turn and stops later on. Its seems characteristic that the sound starts when I take a right turn and gets a little better or almost stops when I take a left. Although sometimes it does start when taking a left.
I'm trying to figure this problem out now because I am going to be driving 500 miles in less than a month and I feel I could really damage the truck if I drive it in its current condition with all the added weight I will be having in the back of the bed as well.
Thanks all
