Great news Roy! Too bad you can't execute the sentence. Enjoy the trip.
Howdy Deplorables. It's my last night in the perfume factory, then three days "off" to visit with my parents (Friday evening through Monday morning), younger brother and his family (Saturday evening), and my son and DIL (Sunday evening). I will be extremely busy the entire time though, so not as much relaxation as I really need. Saturday morning, I'll get up at 03:30 to get a brisket on the smoker. 16:00 Saturday evening, it comes off for slicing and destruction.

Will the girls fly into Yellowstone and back home, allowing you the peace and quiet needed for you to concentrate on your driving and for you to visit your favorite campground for a few nights (parking lot of the XLR factory)?
I love the way that your family travels. My parents never traveled like this. Our family vacations were close to the Chevy Chase movie vacation. Station wagon, soggy cooler sandwiches, no air. I always felt fortunate to get the station wagon seat that faced backwards.

We also lived with the 55 MPH speed limit.

We are back and fourth on that Bruce. They wouldn't fly all the way if they flew as they would want to stop in the Badlands and see Mt. Rushmore too. So, they would either fly part way and meet up with me or come for the whole trip. The flying part for them is not that they can't handle the drive or don't want to. (Well, don't want to any more that I do. I'm not thrilled with 4 big days in the truck either.) It's really based on Maryann's available vacation. Anything over 2 weeks in a row get's pretty difficult to pull off. She get's plenty of vacation time and could take off a full month and still have time leftover but it's the consecutive part that throws up a roadblock.
It's funny you mention the wagon as my wife grew up traveling the same way. Station wagon with no air. But you're forgetting the best part... (or perhaps you had this luxury that she didn't) The back windows of the wagon did not roll down at all and she was stuck between her two brothers. The heat and stench is still burned into her memory and will likely never pass... LOL
When I was young, we never went farther than Cape Cod or Maine so no funky memories like that for me. However, we did indeed have a pee jar. My stepsister was always irritated at the unfairness of it all...

Tom, I see what you did there...LOL
Jim, we were outfitted the same way. My stepdad was a salesman and drove for a living. He put over 40k a year on his company car. So, "getting there" was in his blood. The CB was good for getting updates on the road ahead but we never had binoculars. Well mom did for birdwatching but they weren't broken out while on the road. We did have radar though. The very first Whistler model with a single red light. It went off so often for nothing that I think not hearing it would have been more strange that the regular beeping it put out...
