Transfer Case Oil ??
Hi,
I have a '02 Escape 3.0 liter automatic, XLT 4 wheel drive.
Is it alright to use conventional 85W 140 gear oil, instead of 75W 140 gear oil?
I can't find conventional 75W 140, only synthetic.
Could I put synthetic oil in after using conventional gear oil for years?

If the weather doesn't get cold where you are the 85 should be fine. It will be a little thicker when cold. Probably note nought to worry about though.
As far as synthetic after 13 years, some say that the seals may leak. I have never tried a synthetic after running conventional for a long period so I don't have first hand knowledge.
