I always forget to list the truck specs! It's a 1964 F100, 223 strait 6, 4 on the floor. I cleaned off all the oil and the top side has a polished section about 3/4 of an inch in the middle. Hmmm...
It's a part that yer dang lucky it stayed low!! Really, I have no clue,,, trying to picture every engine underside I've had apart,,, I gots nuthin! Although, I do think it is close to where the muffler bearings bolt up,,, you know, by the flux capacitor!
I have never seen a part like that on a 223 and I've built a few over the years. There is no way to drop anything in the pan from above, the only possible way would be through the fuel pump hole. Very strange...
Well, I'm not too worried as my truck runs fine, just more curious I guess. Ironically, I changed the oil in my motorcycle and found a mystery part there too but that's a story for another forum...
