It has a computer yes, however without knowing more about your truck we cannot say yes or no on the "chip", when one talks abouy a "chip" they mean an aftermarket enhancement chip, like the Diablo or superchip.

 

thanks for the repsonse. i ask because i want to replace my air intake system and i see people keep talking about resetting their computers. do i need to do this with the stock computer? thanks.

 

Is it MAF or is it Speed density? If it's MAF you will have an aluminum thing in the air intake hose with wires on it. It it's just 2 tubes going to the airbox its S/D, most of the time you don't need to do anything to the computer for just a cold air kit. The MAF system will be more that adequate in stock form , and if you're just wanting to put a K&N filter in it then the stock speed density system will be fine as well. Where is gets shaky is when you replace the cam and heads.

The Tymar is for diesels.
