Not leakin . Not sure about anything else this is newly acquired project and trying to get it runnin right and ready to be a dd . Have only about 25 miles on it myself
I found it sitting in the bottom of the trans by sticking my finger in the drain hole. Then took inspection cover off to get it out
Inspection cover = PTO port.
WAG alert: My guess is some prior owner did a rebuild and was very sloppy with that seal. If it had the proper oil level in it and was not leaking, then there must be a seal in there. Does it shift ok?
It shifted alrigh . Not super nice not super rough. It had about 4 quarts or so of fluid in it and didn't lea . I'm not sure what a normal level is. I just took apart a spare np435 that the po had laying around
It seems like it would be impossible for this seal to work its way into the case unless it was just left there during a rebuild
If it is the input shaft seal from this trans, there is no way it can pop out and get into the case. It is pressed into the front bearing retainer, and the input shaft bearing blocks it from the case, and the input shaft goes thru the seal. Must have been left over from a rebuild or reseal and fell into the case.
