hi
i'm having a strange issue with my truck
it is a f150 2009
xlt ext cab 4x4 5.4 liter
for the past 2 weeks i've had this light thump about 1 or 2 seconds after the truck starts driving, not really annoying but it kinda got me wondering
since last week it makes a weird scraping noise from the rear end when coming to a stop (10-0 kmh) it doesn't do it all the time though
for a couple days now it makes this terrible squeecking/scratching/whatever(very loud) noise from the rear end when i accelerate from a dead stop
the one time when i crossed a highway, last night when i backed out of a parking spot (again not all the time)
also when driving through a parking lot, hitting a few bumps and dips i can hear a rattling noise coming from underneath the truck
transfer case due for replacement?
i don't know what this could be
My first thought is brakes; a brake caliper dragging on warped disc, or possibly worn pads.

well i did put anti seize on them things where the brake pads slide on,after that i haven't heard a thing
my first thought was also the brakes, but i've had so many issues with my truck lately that i'm just getting paranoid that one thing or another is going t go ''boom'' pretty soon
but if it were the brakes then it shouldn't make a loud bang when coming to a stop like it did last week once
i know i do get a lot of heads turned with this, but just not really what i'm looking for lol
If your issue is with the brakes, I doubt it would be with the disc brakes. However what I would suggest that you do is to pull the rear rotors off and inspect the parking brakes. They are set up like the old drum brake systems, and sit inside the hat of the rotors. A lot of times they are way over looked for way too long and the spring assy. rots away allowing the parking brakes to become loose and eventually dislodge inside the rotor. When that happens I have seen where the self adjusters get jammed inside there locking the rear wheels up at times. And yes this can happen very intermittently as well. Also agree with conger on inspecting and lubing the slip yoke as well.
