I noticed the other day that my belt was shredding. Further inspection i noticed the pulley seemed just a c hair set back so the belt wasn't going on straight. Any advice on a fix like do i need to change the whole harmonic balencer and pulley or can i just replace the pulley or shim it out?
I'm assuming you have the 302. The OEM balancers on those engines are not the greatest, it's not too difficult to replace them as they are keyed to go on in only one direction. They are notorious for coming apart at the seam. Take a close look at the balancer and see if it is coming apart.
The balancer is held on by one bolt, usually 15/16 head I think. you take that bolt out, then you get a puller for your balancer and pop that sucker off, once you have it off you can take the pulley off and install it to the new balancer, then pop the new balancer in and torque it to 80-90lb/ft (I think) look it up lol
