390 Oil Pan Difference

390 Oil Pan Difference

Our 67 F100 2 wheel drive has a 390 Engine in it. I am looking at a New Oil Pan because someone Butchered the Old one when they moved the Drain Plug from the Side to the Rear of the Pan. I'm finding that many of the Pans says for Car only, Not Truck of Van... Why? Our Engine has the Sump in the Front. Did they make a different style with the Sump in the Rear? Is there any other difference? Am I missing something here?

Ryan, Since all FE blocks are the same, I am inclined to believe it is because of front vr rear sump. The 2wd trucks have a front and I believe the 4wd has a rear. Cars, I'm not certain.

I have seen car 390s with drain in front,oil drains to the belly of pan in front,on some cars,67-72 ford f100s have sump and deepest part of pan toward rear,

Yes, 2wd trucks have a front sump over the crossmember and 4wd trucks have a rear sump verified off of my 70 and 76 F-250 CC's.
