F350 DRW payload

I recently ordered a 2015 F350 DRW 4x4 Lariat package, 6.7 to tow our new RV. My last truck F250 SRW 4x4 lariat package, 6.7 was struggling with our old camper. The pin weight was about 2300 pounds and I needed to install airbags to level the truck. My new RV has a pin weight of 2900 pounds. Does anyone have a F350 DRW 4x4 that they use to tow a 5vr with similar pin weights? If so does the truck sag? I sure hope not I don't feel I should have to put airbags on a truck this size that is supposed to be a Super Duty!

I don't have anything like a 5er, but I do have a truck camper. Full load I haul almost 6 k in the bed of the truck. Never had an issue of any kind on my '11 F 350 DRW. I now have a '15 DRW and no issues at all on the trips I have made and the added torque is a super bonus.

My truck sits level:

TorkLift stable loads

Hellwig Big rear sway bar

Rancho RS 9000XL adjustable shocks

I also often pull a trailer along with my camper and it weighs about <2000 total

While I have no 5er, just seems to me 3000 lbs of pin weight should not be an issue??????

Mine is a 2012 DRW, my weighed rear axle weight is 6660 with the FW attached. (max is rated at 9,000lbs) it drops enough that this engages the overloads, and makes for a rougher ride. I moved the airbags from my previous f250 to the dually to get the ride off the overloads.

I'd be surprised if you will need bags with the dually. We pull our 39' 5th with the '13 F350 short bed. I don't see excessive squat and am doing without bags at this point. The 5th weighs 12700# with 3020# on the pin. The 6.7 pulls nicely and I'm pleased with our mpg (13 on the flat).

Timbren SES Suspension Upgrades - Upgrade Your Truck, Van, SUV , its what I have been using for years to keep the truck level.
They're affordable and they work, I have/had these on my F350's/F550's to keep them level.

I have about 3100 lbs pin wt on mine. No bags. While it does engage the overloads..it is just barely.

I don't find a need for them

Mine seems to get to the overloads in a light breeze without the pin weight.

You know in 2013 they did a couple of changes to the F350 DRW to increase the towing...but I don't recall anything to do with the leaf springs.

I pull a 41 foot raptor, just under 13000 dry....I have t weighed the pin, bit going to guess right around 3000........do I "need" air bags....probably not.....but I will probably install a set of air lift 5000 here soon, just for the added stability.

Well I just got off the phone with my stealer (aka Dealer) my truck is supposed to be at the dealer on April 23rd, it was ordered Feb 17th, and I was told 6-8 weeks. I am getting tired of waiting. My new RV will be here the end of April too. Thanks for the input. I may end up putting something on the truck. The new RV (Grand Design 388M toyhauler) has a 117 gallon fresh water tank, that is 975 pounds of water, so she may squat a bit. Also our wonderful roads in Wi are nice and rough from winter freeze thaw cycles. I will tow with it and see how it goes.

If your toy hauler is like mine, the fresh water tank is right over the axles, so you wont pick up much pin weight that way.

99150,
Looking at the pic it does appear that you are squating some. Also your Raptor appears to not be level... maybe adding some pin weight? Hard to tell from that pic. I will take before and after hookup measurements to see what happens. With toyhaulers I suppose when you load the garage it effects pin weight as well?

Yup. When you put weight behind the axles, it will remove weight from the pin.
And when I hook up, the truck does drop about 3 inches at the rear bumper.
And to get the whole rig in the picture, I had to take it at an angle, so things can appear different than what they really are.

I just walked out and looked at my truck, it would take about 2 1/2 inches drop to get down to the overloads, so with that, mine drops about another half inch after getting down to the overloads

Also......Welcome to the "wide hips club"!!! All the rest of us here just love them!
Be sure and post pics when you get everything and get hooked upand ready to roll!
