When checking the trans fluid on my 2000 F-350 super duty crew cab, Triton V-10.......... With the lettering on the dipstick handle "up" (as in looking at it and being able to read the writing) the fluid level is below the crosshatched area, but on the reverse side its a ways higher..........
If I have the stick with the lettering upside down I get opposite reading.
(there is about a 45 degree twist about 3'' up on the stick, but still..........)
Why wouldn't they be the same?
AND which side do I believe?
I sure don't want to put too much in!
thank you as always
You don't get the same reading on both sides because the dipstick rubs on the tube on one side and smears the fluid. ALWAYS read the lower reading. That's the actual fluid level.
