OK has anyone used one of these in an f100? I and doing the crown vic front swap and picked up an explorer 8.8 with discs so the bolt pattern matches but it just seems soo narrow. I got mustang cobra rims on it and that brings it in even more. Even with some centered rims its pretty narrow.
Is the crown vic rear a better choice? I'm sure I can seel it to some jeep guy and get a crown vic. one.
if it were me i would stick with the factory 9" that should be in your truck and go to the car pattern, my reason for suggesting you do this is, you know the axle already fits, then all you have to do is have it built or build it so that it will work with car wheels, i would also put a posi system in it, less modifying in the end if you ask me, be sure post some pics either way.
Wheel spacers for the Explorer rear end will space the wheels out.
Another alternative to get a Ford 9-inch rear end with the correct width and a 5-on-4.5" lug pattern would be to find an '80-'83 Ford F100 with this rear end under it.
