Question Temp gauge anomaly

Needle of the dash temp gauge now points lower after replacment of the radiator. I replaced the leaking single core radiator with a new double core. At operating temperature the indicator needle used to be at the o in the word normal, now it stops at the first line well short of the letters.
Checked opening of 195 degree thermostat in pan of heated water. New water pump and all hoses. I think it is running close to normal temperatures.
Changed the temp sensor located near the thermostat housing.
I have been told this sensor feeds to the computer and does not send to the dash. Can anyone comment about this?
I was told the sensor for the dash gague is under the intake at the back of the engine. I cannot find it.
The condition has existed for some time with no apparent ill effect. I am trying to solve a poor running condition and am to the point of looking at things that are unlikely just to check them off. I also like the idea of accurate readings on gauges.
If anyone has a suggestion, please post.

If you like accurate guages get some after market ones. Fords stock guages are notoriously inaccurate.
I would think a little cooler running not that unusual if you reolace your old radiator with a newer more efficient one. Make sure you have all the air out of the system by running the engine until the thermostat opens and the water circulates. Temp sensors cand read right unless they are imersed and you may have trapped air, but even then it would just be staying in open loop, the idle would be a little high and it would be running rich.

Temp gauge anomaly

the temp sending unit is under the intake manifold on the left side{standing in front of the motor}all the way back under the last intake runner.{aprox.}you can't see it from the top, crawl under the truck,or pull the right side wheel and look between the frame and splash sheild,it's there, keep looking.as far as running cooler, great!i doubt your sending unit is bad,you put a radiator in with double the cooling capacity.{you went from a single core to a double core}it will run cooler.the sensor you replaced is not for the temp gage,it's an engine managment sensor for the computer.
