shift indicator problem for a 91 ford f250 with automatic
so my shift indicator does not seem like it's functioning correctly. first off when i got this 91 ford f250 the shift indicator didn't work period. when i took the dash apart of course the little pointer that moves back and forth that is attached to a cable and a spring in that plastic track had exploded. it broke in so many pieces just like the ones in the monte carlo g bodies do all the time.
i glued it back together. looked like it worked fine when operating by hand.
when i put everything back together the shift indicator moves now, however it is innacurate and doesn't really show which gear i'm in. it basically is 1 indicator behind what it should show each time i shift the column.
i think that it's possible that i have a seperate problem which may have something to do with the inaccuracy which is that i think my steering column shifter is worn out. i can make it move into about 1/3 of the gears that are available by simply moving the shifter clockwise. i don't have the shifter towards the driver on some of them.
i thought i put the shift indicator back on correcly.
