I bought a Trans-dapt. All the connections leaked and it was a pain in the keyster so I took it back off. I recommend sticking with the stock location unless you have a clearance problem or something.
I installed the remote filter made by TD Performance, Summit catalog, have had it on for 5,000 miles with no leaks. Mounted the filter under the master cylinder, workes great. Recommend using bolts instead of the screws that come with the mounting kit.
I have a Trans-Dapt filter mount with an L&L block adapter on a 460 in an 83 F100. Works okay. I know I'm going to open a can of worms here, but here's my suggestion. If you don't need to have a remote, don't use one. You will lose some oil pressure and have more lines, etc. to fill on start up. Across every fitting, etc. you get a pressure drop. I know it's not much, but they add up. And before you reply, hook up some guages and record the numbers. Hope this helps. By the way, if it's a 460 in an 80's truck, I'd recommend the adapter the factory used which turns the filter to face the front of the truck, over the remote. Just my $.02 .
