00" EX noob
For the bad-
The truck has a knock or sputter sounds coming from the rear of the engine, not positive on location yet but will be the first thing I will be working on.
The interior was in descent shape but i would give it a 7/10 maybe 6. The last owners dog ate pieces of the cushions on the back side of the driver side fnt seat and both bottom cushions of the second row as well as the front passenger corner of the headliner, third row seat is rusted shut due to it sitting in a shed outside for idk how long but it does not fold up. minor scratches here and there throughout the panels.
The suspension/steering/brakes do need work but what heavy duty truck with this many miles on it doesnt. The last owner might not have taken the best of care of it, bummer but im always up for working on my vehicles.
Near Future-
Do all the regular maintenance for ALL fluids, full tune up, after all this hopefully find out whats up with the noise around the engine.
After that problem is fixed I will work on suspension/steering/brakes, for all maintenance and looking at doing some Pro Comp leaf springs for around a 4" inch lift, new shocks, ball joints, etc.
Volant Cold Air intake
17" Wheels (Method Race Wheels - Mesh, Machined face with black accent) and 285/70/17s.
After or while all that is being done I will be working on the interior fixing or replacing seats. I would like to have 4 captains seats for first and second row and regular third row bench seat. Depending on what I can find I will also look into replacing the damaged cushions and regardless what direction I go I will be doing Katzkin for the upholstry. And try and work on some audio stuff here and there as well.
Far/mid Future-
2005 front end but really want to do 2010+ front end we will see how much money I cant throw at it.
Build custom front bumper with all the goodies (lights and what not possible wench no real need for one tho), rear bumper with built in hitch and a spare tire rack.
One thing I really want is a full roof rack with ladder so on those drag race, footbal, baseball, camp nights/days i can hang out up there and get a cold beer in my hand.

Im sure I will do a few other small things here and there but as long as I get this thing running 100% before i work on the cosmetics and goodies I think this will be what iv always wanted in an EX.
I will work on getting some pics within the next week. Its no beauty right now but its a solid good looking EX.

Give those rear seat hinges a little shot of PB Blaster or your penetrating oil of choice for a few days and then start with small movements, it should free back up before long.
A cold air intake will make more noise but not of anything else.
The factory V-10 intake is a cold air setup and can outflow the motor at redline.285/70R17s (32.75") will look really tiny on a 4" lift, a 35" tire is a good match for that size lift.
Check the torque convertor bolts for tightness, you can get at them from the bottom sheet metal cover under it. Possible source for the knocking sound.
Also check for broken or missing exhaust manifold studs/bolts, very common on these motors and can give a knock/sputter sound. Pain in the butt to fix but a very do-able job.
2005 front update is a cake walk, 2010+ will require some serious money thrown at it.
Bumpers and roof rack sound like awesome projects that we here would LOVE to follow with many many pics!

Let's see some good before pictures of this EX!
My father had said something about the torque converter once before but i was like nahhh theres no way but now that i read it more than a couple times around the forum, it looks like i will be checking that for sure
I read a post on here the other day about installing headers and this dude had almost half his bolts break off in the heads, not looking forward to that happening if i need to work on the exhaust but will for sure check again, i didnt see any black sutt from the exhaust around the manifolds but i just gave it a quick look
thanks for the heads up on the lift and tires, im going to do the lift before i order tires to see how much lift i actually get out of the springs, plus i dont want to re gear for the 35's but if needed i guess ill have to fork out the cash for that.
Your set up WE3ZS is pretty much the looks im going for, would love to get some factory harley wheels but on Kodiak and very limited on options. I might even do the modded x/bs iv been reading up on it quite a bit just gotta find time to go junk yard shopping, plus the yard is limited as well for options so i might not have luck on that lift.
If the guy with half of his exhaust manifold studs breaking thread was here on the EX forum, that guy is a gal (sammie0126) and she is a real trooper who dives right into some pretty big jobs on her EX!
Thanks for the compliment on my EX's look, the pic in my signature here is with my modded X/B swap/lift and 32" tires, the current 35"s fill the wheel wells much better. What gears does your EX have now? If you tow at all and do go with 35"s then a gear swap may be in your future if you have the 3.73s now. With factory 4.30s and no towing (heavy anyway...) 35"s will work OK. With no towing plans then even 3.73s with 35"s can work but it be a little doggy off the line.

I was also looking at the shakle and blocks in the rear to keep it cheaper, but im for sure not doing the fake add leaf/block thing up front, idk why that just doesnt look right to me. Im not looking at doing any real off roading or heavy towing so if i cant find the X/Bs to do that mod ill most likely go the route of shakle and blocks. I really dont want to go any taller than 4in tho.
