From my headers it goes into a catalic converter, from there it has a 1ft piece of pipe to another catalic converter but on that pipe is an "air inlet tube" conected right in (i belive it went to the motor or something). Mine is rotted off and causeing and exaust leak, is that little tube important or should i cut off and plug up the hole.
The air inlet tube allows exhaust gases back into your engine to reduce combustion temperatures. This results in better fuel economy and was the way your engine was designed to work. A number of people have removed the smog system and blocking off the air inlet tube is part of doing that.

No that is not correct. The tube is for injecting air during cold engine operation to speed up the heating cycle of the catalytic converter.
What the poster described is EGR operation. Completely different functions.
I'm pretty sure that the air injection tube is operational when the truck is warmed up. There is air injection into the motor to aid in warm up. A diverter valve regulates the functions. I believe that the stock cats need this tube to be operational or the can prematurely fail.
