Has anyone had trouble with a 2006 5.4 expedition missing and loss of power with a P0345,P0349,P0355,P0356, and a P01290 code? it will run and pop like a backfire is going on. Please if have any thoughts please answer. Thank you
I think you have had a rodent or something chewing on wires. The codes show issues with cylinder head temp sensor, camshaft sensor bank 2, primary circuits to coils on cyl 5 and 6. I highly doubt all these are going bad at the same time, so time to check the main harness and connector for the engine.
Inspect for visual damage first, then you'll need an ohmmeter to check for continuity. I have the '05 workshop manual in paper, but not in PDF (yet, have to find one...) but I think maybe Alloro has a few pdf's.. It's pretty easy to beep out the connector when you have the pinout and diagram in front of you.
Skauber, would it be okay to ask Alloro for this diagram?
He's a cranky SOB, but it couldn't hurt to try.
Actually the number of pages would be quite extensive and uploading them here would not be practical even if it was allowed.
Alloro, if you have the pinout diagram for the PCM connectors for him, that would be the most helpful I think. Just find the pins for the affected sensors and then check the resistance between it and the connector on the sensor is all that is needed, though that cyl head temp sensor is UNDER the intake and might be a challenge to get to without removing the intake... The intake manifold will have to come off if the harness is damaged behind it, as I don't think you can get it up and over the intake in any good manner..
Camshaft sensor 1 signal is on C175e pin 45
Camshaft sensor 2 signal is on C175e pin 44
Cyl head temp signal is on C175e pin 41
Sensor signal return for all is on C175e pin 58
Voltage supply for coils come from connector C270d pin 7, on fuse box behind passenger kick panel. Easiest is to check if pin 1 in the COP plugs has 12V+ when ignition is ON, and I don't think that is an issue since the other coils work.
The only common wire is the signal return wire on pin 58 for the sensors, but it doesn't have anything to do with the coils.
