So, Anyone know if Tony's mirrors are made in the US? or just a different factory in China? I really want to do the '08 up swap only 1 time and not have any problems myself.
Thanks for the support guys; the company we use for mirrors spends a lot of time on R&D before releasing these to the public.
I work hand-in-hand with them and relay feedback to them if there are any issues. They are all about quality.
They actually showed me a Dodge mirror the other day that was being produced by other companies that had been redesigned on the base to save money. The support bracket was integrated into the plastic and made of plastic instead of metal like the factory had.
They make ours with the metal brackets and a two piece design to add stability.
They do not cut corners with these products which is why we use them.

Tony, for a 2001 with the stock/normal non-telescopic tow mirrors which are powered.....I think I can go with your: Part #: 1AMRP00591
Right? those should bolt right up and no issues with the power control, correct?
I assume I can use the ones with turn signals with out adding wiring etc.

Hi Steve, Yes those mirrors would work on your truck. If your truck has the round plug (which it probably does) it's more-than-likely only wired for power.
No dis respect towards those who like the 08 and up mirrors but id rather stick to the 06 - 07 mirrors. Just my opinion i think they look outta place on our trucks.
I agree. That's why I went with the 03-07 style with heat, turn, and marker lights. They may not have as good of a convex mirror, but the larger rear view plate let's me see the whole world behind me. I also add a small 2" round convex to the lower outside corner of the upper mirror so that there are absolutely, positively no blind spots.

Tony @ 1A seems to get consistently high reviews.
The mirrors from 1A have the same reflective surface as the OEM ones (no curved reflection and no "objects are closer than they appear" in the passenger side mirror)

The box of mirrors I got from 1A said made in Taiwan.

Hope this helps you out,

IIRC the late '99 has the round plug. They didn't start the rectangular plug until '02 I think. I know that my early '03 has the rectangular plug. Since we didn't have heat, turn, and running lights as an option for the 7.3L you will have to wire those up yourself. 1A does sell a round to rectangle (I think they call it a square plug) conversion.
I drive an 08 with the new square mirrors and also an 02 with the rounded tow mirrors. 08 mirrors are WAYYYYYYYYY better as far as vision, huge upgrade if anyone is considering.
I think I'm going with the standard 2004ish Towing mirrors to replace my "paddles". Will be a decent upgrade for relatively short money.
And about $100 cheaper on 1A as well. I did the same thing. I like the visibility of the '08 mirror but like the esthetic of the rounded mirror on my '03 and the $100 in my pocket to buy more parts.
So anyone have or know where to find a good write up on wiring the running lights and turn signals on the newer mirrors ?
Just ordered some from 1a auto.
I have a pretty good write for you with pics. Hope it helps.
All the wires can be ran under the dash and do not have to go into the engine compartment. I have the e99 so my plugs did not even come close to the stock one and had to build my own Delphi plug kit. Pretty simple plug to build. As for the wires coming of the mirrors, there should 7 wires coming out of the mirror side.
BLACK/WHITE-HEAT
BLACK-GROUND
WHITE-TURN SIGNAL
BROWN-RUNNING LIGHTS
PURPLE, YELLOW, GREEN should match the factory wiring for the mirror function.
On driver side for left turn signal go into the wire harness under your steering wheel which should be raped in electrical and wiring loom peel that off and tap your white wire into the green/white for left turn.
For your pass side mirror turn signal will also be white, that wire will also go under the steering wheel and tap into the white/blue wire.
Driver side running light would tap into the brown wire behind the headlight switch.
Passenger side running light can be tapped into the pass floor kick panel. Take that panel off and find the factory wiring harness only two wires, a black for the ground and brown for power to the outside cab lights. If you don't have the roof lights the wire harness should still be down there and will end with a female plug.
Heat wire, I built a fuse/relay panel under the hood with a bossmann fuse/relay block to run the switches that I have in my F-650 dash panel. Run the black/white heat wire from the pass side mirror to a relay along with driverside to the same relay. Run a switch from your dash to that relay, ground and power the relay.
There is probably a better way to run the heat into the relay but sense there were to wires from both mirrors I just tied them to gether at the relay.
I ran the turn signal and heat wire for the pass side mirror behind the dash using a snake feeder to hide them as clean as possible. its much easier to get behind the glovebox if you remove it pretty simple.
