idle problems
When i start my explorer up the engine idles really weird. It idles between 500 and 1000 some times then other times idles up and down at like 750rpm. Any ideas what i could do to make it idle at a more stable RPM?

Hmmm...could be any number of things. Have you pulled any trouble codes from the truck? I'd be looking for a faulty EGR valve or MAF sensor. Could also be IAC valve. Does the truck get better as it warms up?

I had a similar problem. Whenever I start up, the truck wanted to stall. It idled very rough...around 600rpm and the headlights were very dim but once you stepped on the gas pedal, the headlights became bright! So anyways...the problem was the IAC. I replaced that and everything went well again. My idle is normal and smooth now (around 1300rpm when cold and around 900rpm when warm) and I don't have to have a foot on the gas pedal while the other is on the brakes at a stop light.
