Exactly. She didn't wanna be honest so make her do her best to take care of it. It would be one thing if something happened with her and she needed to take out a loan or something (say someone in her side of the family needed help for example) and she came to you and told you about it, but HIDING stuff like that is just plain unacceptable.
Trust, honesty, and communication are the most vital things in a relationship. My first wife hurt her back at work, and the doc gave her painkillers like he would do for most of us. She got hooked on them and started buying more off the street without saying a word. I noticed it when my paycheck deposits started getting smaller and smaller... it just went downhill from there despite me trying to get her help (rehab) but all it would have taken was for her to come to me about it early enough that we could have done something about it together. Instead she turned into a thief, and an ex wife.
