Had recently had overheating issues. I changed the thermostat and still overheating no heat. today I replaced heater core water pump and the radiator thinking all the tubes was clogged from stop leak and not flushing after the leak had stopped. All new cooling system and still no heat. I also noticed the know only turns half way when trying to switch to cold to see if ac was working. It only turns half way and then stops. Also seems like temperature gauge is reading cooler than what it really is. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
Did you figure out why you overheated in the first place?
My truck is sensitive to coolant levels and will overheat if there's air in the system. During those times I won't have heat due to nothing much flowing.
Make sure your entire system is fluid-filled with no air. Get it running and hot with the cap off then top it off, add the cap to build pressure and see if that helps. You may be surprised at how much more coolant you can fit in there.
If this is a dash-switching problem, ignore my entire post!
