I'm the happy owner of a 2001 F150 with the 5.4. I have had a few ford trucks. First one was 1948 pickup, my dad's old truck, we put a 312 Y block in it. 56 Ford truck, stuck a 389 Pontiac in it, why, we had the engine. 56 ford victoria put a 62 406 in it. 73 Ford pickup, stock. I have had this truck since it was new, best vehicle I have ever had. Wife has a 2011 Ford Escape. Daughter has 2006 Mustang Gt. We kind of like Fords.
I'm a retired Toyota industrial equipment mechanic.
I came here to get idea's about possibly putting a six speed automatic in the F150.
Hello rperry8994, Also a new member - used to race Fords in the 60's - 70's. Joined to get info on different projects I get invoved in now that I am retired (almost) Anyone know if 7.3, 6.0 & 6.4 are interchangable - would like to put 7.3 in place of a 6.0. Bolt in?
Thanks for the response. I don't have an answer for your questions but I'm sure some of the Ford tech's will.
My 5.4 has all the potential I need, I just think the performance would be much better with the six speed, that would probably require a serious ECM mod.
