Gears

How can I tell what gears I have? The truck is a Harley Davidson Edition, not sure if those models had different gears than others.

There is label on the driver side door post that will have the stock Axel code, you might have to search for the code meaning.

Once you have the axle code check the sticky tech folder here or in the Super Duty section and there is a list of what those codes represent.

Gears

Per the label, the truck has 4.30 gears. I've done the calculations and the odometer is off by 7.32% and the speedo is off by about 5 MPH.

Looks like in the Super Duty section you have larger than stock tires. Truck looks sharp too.

4:30 gears are all the rage around here for a V10. Great combo.

Well 1st full fill up since buying the truck. Roughly 200 miles (hand calculates to account for bigger tires) 24.5 gallons to fill, assuming 4 or so gallons of reserve in the tank. So that equates to about 8 mpg. Not that I'm surprised, but I was hoping for at least 9-10. Gonna start simple and clean the MAF then go from there. I know my tires aren't helping but I'll cross that bridge later.

Do you track your mileage to tank ratio?

Check you PCV valve on the passenger cover as well as the hose connecting it to the throttle body.

8mpg is pretty average for a truck that weighs as much as ours do regardless of the engine for City driving. Even my expedition's average Mpg's drop like a rock when I get into the big town of Des Moines Iowa.
