Does anyone have any advice on bedliners for the 2004 F150's? I did not see this as an option on KBB or Edmunds. Is it better to go through the dealer or an outside shop? Any thoughts on the spray in bedliners?
You should be able to buy 2 types of bedliners from Ford. One with a Ford logo (black liner) and one with a Ford Racing logo. They are both built by the same company and are high quality. I saw an installation video once of spray in liners that instructed the installer to grind all the paint off the bed before spraying the liner in. Plus if you get in an c\accident and have to replace part of the bed, how do you fix the spray in liner???
Ford won't be putting spray-in liners in at the factory...you can almost bet on that...spray-in liner companies lobby them way to hard for that to happen....
As an accessories dealer here in NC who does drop-in and spray-in liners I can tell you that several drop in manufacturers are already set to go with delivery on liners for the new 150's. I have about 30 on order myself since here in western north carolina we are in ford truck country.
As for spray-ins....we don't grind all the paint out of the bed...we lightly sand the clearcoat in the bed to scuff it for proper adhesion of the liner material...this isn't unusual..body shops sand before they repaint anything...Since we spray over and completely seal the bed anyway...it wouldn't matter if we did grind all the way to bare metal...
Spray-in liners are very easily repaired after accidents and the insurance company foots the bill...
i love my liner, not a rhino, but sprayed on, 250bucks dealer shipped it out for me to be done. take a lot to dent a bed, spray on the only way to go, plus if u want u can put a rubber mat down, i lay a sheet of 1/2inch plywood and carpet it, perfect
