I have a 2001 Ford Explorer purchased in Colorado. It came equiped with a high altitude principal use configuration. I want to sell the car to my buddy in CA. A Ford mechanic in CA told him that the car will run like junk at low altitudes.
I can not imagine that this is the case since the oxygen sensor should be able to calibrate to the different elevations and one can not assume the car will never be taken to lower elevations.
Does anyone know what the effect potentially could be in CA and if there is a way to reconfigure to CA elevation?
