I have a 73 F250 2wd 360 3speed MANUAL (on the tree)
I just bought the truck and I lost 1st and Reverse on its maiden voyage. The connections at the column seem fine but where the rods connect to the transmission the bushings are gone and the rod is just hanging.
I didn't want my first post to be stupid and I have tried to search the parts needed but I haven't had any luck.... If it is easy to find please be easy and I'll try harder next time.
If someone could help me with the part numbers and where to find them I would be most grateful. I couldn't find a diagram either that showed the hook up
Welcome to FTE, the part you're looking for is Ford p/n D5AZ-7341-C, unfortunately I couldn't locate any dealer or obsolete supplier that had any. Don't give up though, this is an old number and I know it has been superseded with a new number. I believe they are still available from Ford, I just don't have the new part number.
Hopefully Bill (Numberdummy) will chime in with the current number.
I think the connections at the transmission are a special stud...not necessarily a bushing. The bushing connects the shift rod to the lever coming out of the column....
If they are anything like the shift rods I have on my Bronco for a floor shifter the end of the rod should have an end on it to accept a bushing. there would also be a little through hole to insert a pin.
These would be the parts needed for that situation.
