Should these doors open a bit on their own when you goto open the doors? They have always stayed in closed position and I have to push on the door to get it away from the striker bolt.
I replaced the pins/bushings in my door hinges and replaced the striker. The former fixed the door sag, the latter allowed the door to latch properly. The plastic part on mine was missing all together.
Cheap hinge kits can be had, but I'm not the kinda guy that likes to do things more than once. I spent an embarrassing amount of money on the kit I used, but I don't anticipate ever having to do it again.
Replaced the striker bolt on the pass side today, it had been fixed with elec tape and the latch was coated with...something and it was hard to get the door to latch. cleaned the gunk off now it closes great. The drivers side has a good striker and the latch is clean but the hinge pins are shot and takes a bit of lift to shut. Ill change the striker when I get around to the hinges.
Its not a huge deal, kind of near the bottom of the list for this truck, Ive just been giving the doors the elbow to start them opening.
I went through the trouble with mine because it's parked outside and we tend to get moisture in the winter I wanted to try and keep out. In retrospect the striker probably would have been enough to get the door closed all the way but I didn't know that at the time.
