has anyone every done a v10 swap or thought about it, the reason I ask is there are a lot of triton v10s in my area going cheap right now.
I think I know what I would need for one but who thinks this would not worth the headache.
here's what I fell would be needed.
engine
tranny
wiring harness from the donor truck
computer
a welder
torch
misc stuff
starter
exhaust
p/s lines
somewhere on here is a thread with a simple CAD outline of the engine profiles of an older fords verses a modular motor. I believe the modular was much wider, and the V10 is of course longer. Not sure it would fit without major modifications.
I'm sure it can be done. I've been reading about a Mustang II build on facebook with a V10 swapped in, and if they can fit one into a Mustang II, I'm sure you could get one into your truck.
Yep it'll fit I measured my 79 f100 was going to do the swap it'll drop in pretty easy, width & weight same as FE engine in there and you've got 32" to play with for the length. I ended up dropping a 300 six in because I got the whole 85 150 doner for less than I could find a used core. You can buy headers for the V 10 and cams from Comp Cams. There's a thread on a guy on FTE that put two aftermarket hpo intakes for a 5.4 for his 10. I couldn't find a good deal for a V 10 at the time, so I took a different tack.

It would likely fit if you don't have a/c. the bottom is too wide with the a/c compressor on the passenger side. the p/s pump on the driver side is higher but may also interfere.
