Sweet deal! I bet you can't wait to get it all together now.

The best way I can think of to get all that old, nasty coolant/oil mix out of it is to fill it up, run it a while til it gets good and hot, then dump it. Then repeat until it keeps coming out clean. The only other way I can think of would be if you could use a flush solution or something that had enough detergent in it that it would dissolve the oil.

That's the same thing a buddy of mine told me last night. Gonna try to get it buttoned up enough to run it by this weekend. Just wish the exhaust and gauges would arrive to get it completed.
Again, thanks for all the help and guidance on all of my questions and posts.

Well, no chance to work on it today. Spending the day at the hospital with my girlfriend. Hoping all goes well here.

Well, everything is good. Home from the hospital. Worked on the truck all day today. Got everything ran for the gauges, new injectors in, finally figured out the lay out for the intake. Had to find a new gasket (Oring) for where the Y connects to the turbo. Got the pyro probe installed in the exhaust manifold, tapped the Y for boost. Hopefully I'll have everything except the exhaust done tomorrow. Then I get to fire it up and flush the system.

On a side note:
Has any one ever heard of using Cascade Dishwasher detergent to assist with flushing the coolant/ diesel? The reason I ask is because I have had several guys say to do it that way, and none of them know each other.

I'm glad to hear that everything is okay and that you're making some good progress on the truck.

I've never heard of using Cascade in the coolant system, but I can see where that would work. I doubt it would hurt anything, since you're going to be rinsing it all out again anyway, but I'm curious to hear what others say about it.

When I spent most of my time in the IDI section, it was recomended to use Cascade in the cooling system when cleaning after an oil cooler fail. I have never tried it, but it was said to break down the oil in the radiator and engine. It was recomended to add the Cascade, bring the engine up to running temp, then drain and flush.

Getting everything finished up and hooking everything back up. Have to go get another clamp. Had one that was broke off and is now too small to fit the turbo boots from RiffRaff.

As soon as I figure out if I can put cascade into the water pump to flush out the system, I will get her fired up.

Couple of questions regarding the cascade. First, with or without thermostat? Second, would you add it through the reservoir or find a way to get it into the radiator?

I would do it with the thermostat out and mix it into a bucket fist. I can't see why it would matter if you put it in the degas bottle first. It'll end up there anyway

Well, I just wanted to let everyone know, as of 1:00 am, .....SHE's DONE.
Everything is installed. New injector cups, new injectors, oil cooler rebuilt, chip installed, gauges installed, pod installed, and 4" straight exhaust installed.
I wanted to thank everyone for the help and advise in getting this done. Could not, would not have attempted it without this forum.
Sitting in the shop, she sounded good. Tomorrow she comes outside for a test drive. Lord knows I'm ready to be back in the seat.
I will post some pictures when I get it cleaned up. It's been a looong 2 weeks. Glad I did everything but glad it's over. Until the next project.

Sweet deal!! Hopefully all goes well on the maiden voyage. Man, I know I sure wish mine were done so I could take it for a spin. I've got an awful long way to go yet.
