fan shroud

anyone know where to get a fan shroud for a 73 f100 390fe, most junkyards around me have been picked clean or there all newer stuff, LMC has them but price and shipping price arn't friendly, will another year work, my truck is a late 72( 73 model year) no a/c, factory fan, aftermarket radiator( direct replacement for the truck though looks just like the stock one). looking for a cheap replacement or one from another year that i could find that would work.

This doesn't answer your question directly but I just put an electric fan from a V8 T-bird in mine. Cost was about $30 and another $30 for a mounting and temp-control; pretty clean installation. Quieter, easier on water pump (no heavy fan weight), easier to work on engine. Just another option.

So far so good albeit with limited testing. No a/c on mine either which makes it better. I don't anticipate towing 6,000 lb. uphill in August through the desert though either. My current truck is a 78 F250 4x4 with 400M, manual trans. When I had one on my 75 390 4x4 auto, it always did the trick but it was two smaller fans.

I would actually say that the only time it really ever needed to kick in was during idle or very slow moving. You get any amount of air movement through it and no fan was needed.

I got a bolt on "flex-fan" and put a stainless half circle shroud over the top. Seems to work fine on my 460. Moves a Lotta air

I wanted to use an electric Mark VIII fan on mine but I don't have the space between the radiator and engine so I made one from aluminum sheet.

Here it is before the corners were welded or the hole was cut.

<a href="http://s742.photobucket.com/user/Fordworth/media/Alum%20fan%20shroud/0302141635b_zpsj6u8nhzf.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/xx65/Fordworth/Alum%20fan%20shroud/0302141635b_zpsj6u8nhzf.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 0302141635b_zpsj6u8nhzf.jpg"/></a>

Here it is installed. Not real pretty, but functional.

So, don't remember where I read it. But, thread said that the volvo fan is the same motor and everything as the ford taurus, and obviously wires right up to the volvo relay pack. I would say that a shroud from any old old ford truck will work. I put the radiator out of my 74 F100 302 a/t with factory a/c into my 76 F350 manual no ac truck. Had to do some modifying to get radiator bolted in, they mounted differently, but the Shroud from the 76 bolted right onto the radiator from the 74.

It's possible but I haven't had that luck.
But than again I'm pretty sure the radiator in my truck isn't the right one. The PO gave me a shroud to go with the truck but it didn't fit the radiator. The new shroud I bought doesn't fit either.
It's a ford radiator, which one though I have no idea.

Doesn't fit how? A few pics of radiator and shroud would do wonders.

That fan looks exactly like the one I got from the newer T-Bird, well 95-96'ish era. When I bought my fan control kit, it came with "zip tie" style connectors that push through the fins on the radiator (sort of like a push-on plastic screw & nut). It just so happened that the shroud on the electric fan nested perfectly within the radiator perimeter (so that the plastic fasteners are just "clamping" and not holding the weight up). There is a foam pad between the shroud and radiator on each fastener. It seems reasonably sturdy to me but I am going to keep a close eye on it. The last thing I want is the thing ripping out the radiator tubes.
