Hello Washington folks

Hello all, I have been on here lurking for awhile in a couple different threads. I currently have a 1966 f100 and a 1978 f250. Both pics included, I have been doing more with the 78 since I got it and it is much more road ready than the 66.

Welcome to the chapter! Those are some pretty trucks you got there. I've got a 78 Bronco that I love. Its not road ready at the moment but I'm working on fixing that.

Is Fezzick a Princess Bride reference? If so that movie is such a classic.

Trucks look good.

What do they need done?

I have 2 of those wheel covers for the 78 sitting in the shop if you're interested.

Well....lol the 78 is in by far better shape all around than the 66. The 78 needs a carb rebuild( I have the kit) just kinda worried if i tackle it myself i will screw something up and alot of little things like oil change, new interior carpet, exhaust has a leak i am tracking down, and radius arm bushings that i have purchased just to start. Also my speedo and gas gauges are the only working ones right now so I will be troubleshooting that lol. I cant complain though I got it for a good deal and it runs fine but starting it after a night of sitting is the hard part need to put a little gas in the carb and she will start right up. Hence the carb rebuild.

The 66 different story cab is in good shape metal wise, needs a hood as it is rusted through. Bed floor has a lot of rusted through spots. The rear end is a 9 inch but it is geared way too high so i need to basically change the pumpkin its currently at 4.65 to 1 ratio. It has a make shift floor shifter for an automatic. No gauges work lol. Interior needs redone.

I originally purchased the 78 so that i could put the cab and bed of the 66 onto it, but the 78 is in such good shape that I am starting to rethink that and keep both but then I get into way too much money to do the things I want to do to both.

What I envision is the 78 will be my nice truck for everyday use hauling different things and just normal duty. The 66 I would love to turn into a cruising around kinda hot rod that sees mostly nice days and no "truck duty".

Sorry for the essay lol.

What Carb does the 78 have? If you can drive it to my place we can get the Carb rebuilt/tuned.

I need to buy a new Floor Jack and some other crap before I offer to help with the Radius Arm Bushings, they are a PITA to do depending which way the mounts are set up. Suggest buying the full Polyurethane Bushing kit off Ebay, did it on a buddies 73 F-100 and it made a world of difference.

I have some other parts and junk I could throw at your rig, most would have to wait till I get the rest of my stuff from up north.

Not a problem, I love keeping these trucks on the road and could use the socializing.

Looks like I'll be driving the box van up north for another load of my stuff and I'm a long ways off from being set up here in the new shop.

Have you tried tuning the carb with a vacuum gauge?

Its expensive but I've been informed of a "Carb Guru" that rebuilds them and has a bench flow tester to get it perfect. I'd like to have him do my Carter AFB but with shipping it would be a few hundred to do... Not worth it. The one carb I rebuild didn't go well. It leaked and stuff so I'm a little weary of trying it again.
