My temp has been running between 178-181. (that is after a half hour of driving.) The ford shop said that is normal and that the 6.0 is suppose to run between 170-180. I have learned the hard way that my local ford shop is not very reliable. I thought I would ask you all since I have learned more for you all than any ford shop.
Thanks.
In a nutshell...No that is not normal. I believe the OEM thermostat is rated at 192' and normally starts to crack open about 185. How cold is it where you are at? What is your EOT? Have you compared EOT, FWT after a good cold soak? If I were you I would go ahead and pick up a new thermostat either OEM, or there is also a thread on here where a bunch of folks have up-graded to the Mishimoto 200' t-stat
My 2005 always ran between 195 and 204 depending on load and ambient. In the 9 years that I had it never had to change the t-stat. Guess I had a good one.
It was around 70 F today. I ran it for about two hours on the freeway and the hottest it got was 181. My EOT has been slowly climbing. It was at 196 today. I am going to have to get a new oil cooler soon.

I must have lost track, but when did you get the '15 and please don't tell us how freakin'bitchin' it is (Just kidding)
No wonder you still come to the 6.0 forum the 6.7 one is:
Mine was doing that, changed stat, good to go. Was partially stuck open and wouldn't warm up. I just used the OEM factory stat. Runs about 192, even -10 degrees.

LOL, got it in Nov. after Ford did a buy back on my 05. Couldn't keep turbos in it. Other than that was completely happy with the 05. As far as coming here, there are a lot of great people here and if I can help someone as I was helped when I was new I am glad to do it. You are also correct in there being a little more action here. Door locks and egt sensors are the hot topics in the 6.7 forum.

As others have mentioned, it sounds like your thermostat is on its way out. A new stock unit should run right around 192 degrees. If you would prefer an alternate temperature, we offer a 200 degree unit which has proven to be a great upgrade for several folks here on the forum.
Let us know if the temperatures recover once you replace your thermostat!
I wouldn't count out your oil cooler just yet. Mine was having almost 20* deltas with my water temp at 180*, but I replaced the t-stat with the 200* mishimoto and I have 5* or less now.
I want to go with the Mishimoto but i have read that they don't always seat right (depends on the housing you have) and they don't come with a new o ring.

A: they come with a new oring
B: use housing rt1169 if you don't feel lucky
