64 F100 build

I have a 1964 F100 my great grandfather bought brand new at West-Dotson Ford in douglasville Ga in january 1964, it is a v8 3 on the tree short wheelbase truck that has been used as a farm truck most of its life and it looks like its had a hard life but is relativly straight and rust free. Judging by the paperwork it has close to 300,000 miles on it and the old 292 y-block smokes like a tar kettle but runs good. So I have owned this truck since 1998 when i inherited it and not done a thing with it except start it up and drive it around the block once in a while and now is the time to build it up and here is what I have in mind; swap in a lincoln 430 or 462. why? one the y block is claimed for a 32 ford 5 window coupe, two the 430/462 is rare yet plentiful, three, the 430/ 462 is the only engine made in 1964 that isnt a small block or an FE big block both of which I have owned too many. Next since it has that dandy straight axle up front I want to go gasser style like the old ****** drag cars if anyone knows how to raise that straight axle correctly and what disc brakes can be swapped in place of the drums that would be appreciated! Last I am at odds on the trans I would like to run one of the old manual overdrive transmissions but am not opposed to an automatic and dont know what I can run with the 430/462 engine so advice on that would also be appreciated. Also it will most likely be coated in hot rod black primer with the logo from the exterminating company my great grandfather ran back in the late 1960's painted on the doors and painted steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated as I am treading new (to me) with this one Im pretty dead-set on the lincoln engine but the rest is on the drawing board. Thanks for any help you guys!

I'm pretty sure Lincoln used a C6 in '66 that will bolt up to a 462. If I'm not mistaken looks a lot like the 460 bell housing, but slanted a bit on top. I know I've run across that C6 a few times. If your going automatic, I would think that would be the way to go, instead of a cruiso. Parts are much more plentiful for a C6.

Sppedway sells a disc brake kit that bolts onto the spindles.

Speedway also sells motor mounts for a 460. Not unique as a big Lincoln, but cheaper, more performance parts, and more tranny choices.

My 64 with a 292/AT is a nice truck, but I sometimes wish for more get-up-and-go.
