My FX4 2003 F150 w/5.4L hesitates badly and you can hear it take a gasp of air when the throtle is slammed. It used to light up the tires, now it just gradually takes off. Everthing else seems normal as long as your not jumping on the gas. Any ideas?
I have a 2003 S'Crew (5.4L) and I think I hear the same thing same w/ mine. Sounds just like a slight hesitation where its sucking for air. I put a K@N kit on mine, I was thinking that might have something to do with it, no sure. I can't light mine up either, and I would like to think that the 5.4 wouldn't have that problem.
Sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere between the throttlebody and the mass-air sensor. Check all of your hoses to make sure that they are tight and none have fallen off. Look under the linkage cover for the 2 hoses the go into the main air tube.
