Not a good day.

99 F150 w/5.4L, 113K 4x4

Lately has been running poorly when cold. Idle low, 450-550 rpm's. I suspect idle air sensor, and planned on replacing it tomorrow. I have cleaned the MAF sensor, and that helped a little, but the problem was primarily when cold. Sometimes it stumbles so badly it has stalled.

Then coming out of the bbq place from lunch, the truck doesn't want to move. I get out and look, and my front wheels are pointed in different directions. The right front is not responding to steering inputs. No trace of improper steering prior to this. Hmm. I didn't hear anything break, it was just like it broke while sitting there. Nothing hanging down, I can't figure if it's a tie rod or a cv joint failure. I've only experienced ball joint failure before (different car), and this is something else.

Pretty much a stock truck, and I don't abuse it. I've owned it since new.

It looks like I'll be calling some shops today.

What was the problem with the front end of your truck?

 

Could be a broken steering link. It may not have fell down. Like a tie-rod end or adjuster.
