Found a 1989 Bronco II for $350. Only two things wrong with it. Well three if you count the overdue tags. One is it needs a bearing in the rear end. Two, it is a 5 spd manual transmission, and then the tags are a few years overdue. Would be a good project truck to work on for something to do once I get back in my mobile home. However, the tags might be an issue. I could replace the rear end and try to sell it for a profit, but the overdue tags might be so high it would not be worth the effort. I hate it when people don't put their vehicles on a Non-Op, Interior and body are in excellent shape, but due to the high tags it will be sold as a parts truck unless some idiot like me makes it a long term project truck, pays the tags, and keeps it for himself.
Interesting that the purple Explorer doesn't show up when I do a CL search for 91-94 Ford Explorers, yet I bookmarked it when I first saw it, and the bookmark still works. Must be a way to make it private, or non searchable or something. Doesn't say it was deleted by poster, so I am going to guess it is still available. Especially since he said he would still need it for 3 to 4 weeks.
Careful Jim, you went down that road before. Anyway just tossing #`s around, 1k for tags 1k for bearings (at a shop) and then its a stick which is hard to drive with a bad wheel (leg). What happened with the other one you were looking at for 2200.00? The in SLO.
The one in SLO is still there, and I still plan on buying it. Already changed my avatar to it, and even added it to my sig. The Bronco II would be more for a project truck then anything I would drive now. However, the tags are scaring me away. He says a few years, well, that could be 3 or 7 who knows? And if I did get it, I would want to swap in an auto trans, which means more expense. As much as I would love to get the Bronco II, it is just not feasible. If it weren't for the tags though, I would buy it when I move back into the mobile home, and just repair it a little at a time. I still think that hauling ATV's/motorcycles would be my best bet at bringing in some extra cash as I know I can do that. I would have to pay someone to do most of the heavy work on the Bronco II, which of course would make it harder to sell for a profit. Something I know all too well with that POS Jetta, and the two Jaguars.
YO! g'morning gents. sounds like all is well across the interweb miles. alls quiet here in oakland. been a busy month of march. work is busy with a MGB/TGB change and an airframe and #1 ENG 600hr inspection. plane should be down for almost three weeks. in other news, snow white is leaking oil big time. and i mean BIG TIME. limped her home last night. runs ok with no exhaust smoke or discoloration and turbo seems to spool up just fine. i need to tear into her today and look at HPOP lines/connections, turbo pedestal, and valve cover seals….
i mean, guys, its runningoff the back of the block and TC plate/drip pan underneath.
keep you posted!
apparently i don't know how to use the italics function yet. the only word i wanted italicized was the word running. lemme try this way see what happens...
