Obsolete and Interchangable

So A I am new here and B I am trying very hard to follow user "Torque 1st' tips for threads.

I wanted to talk about interchangeable and obsolete parts. Specifically my new 78 f150 custom. 4wheel drive, 300 and 4 speed. Nothing special, but im excited about it. Ill post a picture later.

Something that always bugs me are spliced and hanging wires. I don't mind accessories, but I cant stand hanging, spliced, cut, wrong wires. That is a big problem with mine. I wanted to get a new wiring harness. I have found some catalogs that carry OEM wiring harnesses for Chevy, but I CANNOT find anything for a Ford. I am very intimidated by aftermarket kits, but I think that's what I am headed with. Anyone have ideas? Im slightly worried that ill start find more parts that are simply not produced anymore.

Centech makes new wiring harness for these Ford trucks... plugs, switches, etc. are OEM compatible; Ford Wiring Harness

"
Our K-40F is a custom wiring kit designed especially for 1960-and-newer Ford applications using FoMoCo switches and accessories. Our kits utilize the time-saving and easy-to-follow "point-to-point" system in which wires are run from the fuse panel directly to their marked destinations. For further simplicity, all wires are color-coded and labeled along their length, and, for safety, are a high-temperature "cross-link" type. In most cases, the correct electrical connectors are pre-installed on the harness to prevent errors and to speed installation.

Centech's tiny (3.5" x 6.0") PBP-1B fuse panel uses lugless connectors to eliminate unreliable ring terminals. Power is readily available from the panel for pre-wired after-market A/C systems and additional electrical needs such as power windows and stereos.

Instructions are supplied for the Ford Dura-Spark ignition system; however, the Davis Unified Ignition HEI distributor is highly recommended for ease of wiring and great performance for Ford engines.

Don't be too intimidated. Most, if not all, of the new kits have lettering describing the wire location going down the length of it. The biggest factor will be how much uninterrupted time you will have to do this. It may take as long as two days to get this done and once you start removing cutting/removing the whole harness, you're in it whole hog. HIOs post sounded pretty good with the connectors. I know that half the time I spent was terminating the wires.
