The only problem I haven't figured out is the 5.8 has dual intake hoses from the throttle body to the breather box and the 5.0 is a single with the mass sensor. How do most folk go about getting the 5.8 to work with the mass sensor? Do they just swap 5.0 upper or install a cold air intake for the 5.8 with the mass sensor inline?
You're not seeing the forest for the trees. In other works you're too close and not seeing the bigger picture, both of the these motors use an upper intake with the exact same dual throttlebody.
Thanks for not flaming me for a stupid question, the engine is under a tarp and I was thinking the 5.0 was a single bore throttle body. A thousand pardons, I apologize for my insolence. Sounds pretty simple now, thanks for setting me straight conanski!
I was mistaken, the truck has a 4r70w transmission. Hopefully these are pretty good transmissions, don't know anything about these.
The 4R70w is a good trans, it's not rated as high as the E4OD but it seems to be less problematic and it's cheaper to build/rebuild. Also note you cannot use the E4OD flexplate(wrong offset) on this trans, and the 5.0 version won't work either(wrong imbalance), you need a new 5.8(28oz) AOD/4R70w flexplate.
And about the throttlebodys.. if the 5.0 was from a car it would have a single TB.
