Install a Pertronix Ignitor and forget points and dwell. Gap the plugs at 60, use a hotter coil, set timing initial at 15 and back off 2 degrees at a time until it quits pinging on 87 octane or leave it at 15 and pay for high test. Idle is up to you, I like 800, 650 is good for a standard trans. One more thing, JEGS sells a flat cap, rotor and adapter that will work on your distributor. Add a set of 8mm plug wires and you are in business. I have run this setup for over 35K miles without any issues. You could switch to a dura spark as well. Whatever you do lose the points. Ain't worth the hassel.
